Trip to California: my travel itinerary
As I write this, there are only a few hours before I leave for California. Finally a well deserved holiday! I will probably have several things to share when I return, but just to make you dream or inspire you in an upcoming trip, here's my itinerary for the next week and a half.
Day 1
Arrival in San Francisco. Walk to downtown. Bicycle on the Golden Gate Bridge. Dinner in downtown. San Francisco is renowned for good eats! I have not yet made my choice, but here is my selection: State Bird Provisions, Frances, Bar Tartine or Mission Chinese Food.
Day 2
Visit San Francisco. Several attractions on my list not to be missed: Union Square for shopping and sight, Haight Ashbury Victorian houses, the cable cars, Lombard Street, Buena Vista Park, Pier 39 … Then visit Alcatraz in the evening !
Day 3
California wineries. I had in mind Napa Valley, but I was told that Sonoma was less commercial and more fun. The vineyards on my list (which were recommended to me by friends who have been there): Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, Benziger Family Winery, and Francis Ford Coppola Winery. (yes, perhaps more because of the movies of wine).
Day 4
A small dose of Nature! Visit Lake Tahoe and Yosemite. Scenery breathtaking. We rented this van for the roadtrip there and to camp!
Day 5
Road Trip on the West Coast! A scheduled stop at Big Sur and another at Delmonte forest. The rest will be improvisation.
Day 6
A day at the beach in Santa Barbara! But not just sunfish style! I’ll try surfing. Yes, my first surf lesson at Surf Happens! Hopefully I’ll stay on the board 2 or 3 seconds!
Day 7
Visit Los Angeles. Surprisingly, the general comment of people who went to California is “I did not like LA” or “A Day in LA, it’s enough.” So I focused on visiting Hollywood: Sunset Boulevard and the Walk of Fame. I also keep several hours to visit Universal Studio! A ride on Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills is also a must!
Day 8
Visit San Diego. I don’t have any plans for that day yet, but it seems that two things not to be missed there are Cabrillo National Monument and Balboa Park. There is also a zoo and a “Sea World”, but I’m not too much for that. We’ll see what this city holds. Anyway “Stay classy San Diego”
Day 9
We rented a little cottage 5 minutes from Venice Beach. This is the cutest house in the world and the more it is aqua! I was told that Venice Beach was a very special “vibe”. Can’t wait to see that. The final element to my trip: get a tattoo in LA! (to be continued if the artist I chose replies).
Day 10
Flight from LAX to YUL. Back at home. Sniff! It’s the end of my trip to California.
