VICOLO: New Italian Restaurant + Bar, Downtown Montreal
Throwing a BIG night the Italian way: house cocktails, amazing cold cuts, good beat for dancing. We were invited to a back alley: the VICOLO ("back alley" in Italian) offers a warm decor reminiscent of Italy.
DJ Abeille on the turn tables, we were greeted by a smiling staff, obviously anxious that the restaurant becomes a key destination.
Drinks and antipasti
So, do we grab a drink? Or 2, maybe 3? I had different cocktails with gin plus another with Campari , the Italian Sour, both frankly delicious. I recommend to try at least one in their home made selection.
In fact, at the bar, we had to retain ourselves not to literally jump on the gigantic buffet… Several people were around it and looking at it from distance, as if it was a forbidden dream . There were loads cheeses and mountains of cold cuts meat. Omg.
Buon Appetito
Then, we were served several bouchées, including:
- – Small Musky Squash Soup with apple + mascarpone: groovy. The best I’ve ever had.
- – Classical Mushroom Ravioli.
- – Chocolate desserts and sugar cream.
Downtown Montreal destination
For an evening with friends, VICOLO seems totally appropriate. I can imagine celebrating there for important events like anniversaries. The message was clear: pomp, gastronomic delights and dance will be at VICOLO whenever you want to get some!
Psst !: Thanks to Karl Jessy for the cover photo!
