A spectacular first birthday for Kyo Bar Japonais!

For a business lunch, a 5-7, a dinner alone with your beloved or a festive evening with good friends… All reasons are good to live a Japanese experience in the heart of Old Montreal!

Last September 30th, I had the chance to celebrate de 1st anniversary of the Kyo Bar Japonais, situated 2 steps away from the Basilique Notre-Dame. For the occasion, they did not take any shortcut; they welcomed us into a typical Japanese atmosphere, where sake and signature dishes tasting, as well as sushi making workshop were honored.

Kyo Bar Japonais is a Japanese Izakaya-style restaurant (the equivalent of a brewery in Quebec or a pub in England). As I said earlier, Kyo is a great place either for a business lunch, or for a good sake in a casual 5-7… that could very easily turn into a memorable evening. Indeed, with a choice of over 25 sakes, I’m sure you’ll find one that suit you!

The vision of Chef Terrence “Ding” when he developed this menu, was to present typical Japanese comfort food dishes, adding a touch of finesse that makes it unique. Fried chicken with aioli, chicken satay, grilled beef tongue, seafood pancake as well as the daily creation of the sushi Chef… The menu doesn’t lack diversity! That said, the concept is simple: Bring friends, colleagues of family, take 2-3 dishes per person along with a sake, put it in the center of the table and enjoy!
