I’ve never been an early bird. I love sleep late. People like me are only a little part of humanity, so we have to adapt ourselves to the reste of the world. Though, but not impossible !
Believe me, follow those little tricks and you’ll become the best morning person on Earth.
1. Prepare everything the night before to make sure you don’t forget something
Prepare your lunch, your bag and your outfit (if you’re the type of person who can spend a lot of time deciding what you’ll wear) the night before. You may save a couple minutes in your morning routine.
2. Same thing for breakfast!
«I didn’t eat breakfast, I didn’t have the time !» Classic… Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and you knew that ! With a little organization, it’s easy to cook a little something to eat in the subwayor really quick just before to leave.
Bonus: Overnight slow-cooker oatmeal. I saw a pin recently on Pinterest and I fell in love with the Apple Cinnamon oatmeal. What a good idea ! You just put everything on the slow-cooker before going to bed, it cooks overnight on low and you have a warm and tasty breakfast ready to eat when you wake up!
3. Hydrate yourself
Let’s face it. When we wake up, our body hasn’t been hydrated for approximatively 8 hours. You may not feel it, but your body is dehydrated when you wake up. Some say that our body flushes all the toxins during the night, and we can help it by drinking a big glass of water right after waking up. Finally, when you drink a big glass of water in the morning, it helps you waking up (a little bit) faster.
4. Stretch (or, if you dare, do a little bit of yoga!)
We shall all strech when we wake up. It increases flexibility and blood circulation in your body, and this may help you waking up easily. Just do it!
Personaly, I love the morning stretches by Dr. Oz. You can’t find inspiration for your own routine ? Internet is full of those. You’ll find one for you!
5. Wake up a little bit earlier
Sometimes, this is all you need. You feel like you’d need an extra 5 minutes getting ready ? Set your alarm 5 minutes earlier ! Or, to trick your brain a little bit, set your alarm like 20 minutes earlier than usual, and allow yourself 2 extra snooze. It works!
6. Think natural light
Not easily done during short winter days, but when summer comes, it is easier to wake up with sunlight than electric light. Plus, a study shows that being exposed to sunlight in the morning may help regulate your weight. Great!
7. Drink your cafeine… with moderation!
Drinking a cup of coffee in the morning isn’t a bad thing… In fact, that’s good for your health. When it becomes bad is when you NEED your coffee to start the day. In this case, maybe you should switch to tea for a while!
8. Go to bed not too late
9. P Put your alarm clock far from your bed
So you won’t have the choice. You must go out of bed to turn it off. It requires more efforts than simply hit the snooze button !
